Dr Edward Jenner

Edward Jenner was the person who developed the smallpox vaccine. He was born in 1749 in Gloucestershire, England. When he was twelve years old, he served as a surgeon's appretience.
    In 1792, he received his medical degree and became a succesful physician and surgion. At that time, smallpox was one of the most dangerous diseases around and it caused alot of deaths. Jenner noticed that farmers who contracted cowpox did not contract smallpox. He realised that inoculating people with cowpox woulde immunise them against smallpox.
    In1796, he inoculated eight-year-old James Phipps with weak germs taken from cowpox diseases sores. The boy was developed cowpox but quickly recovered. Several weeks later, the boy was inoculated with smallpox but did not contract the diseases. Thus, the practise of vacaniatian was started.
    Jenner received many medals and honours. He vaccinated the poor free of charge. For the rest of his life, he performed scientific experiments, wrote medical articles and treated patients. he died in 1823

Tun Abdul Razak

Tun Abdul Razak was born in Pekan on 11 March 1922. He first studied in a Malay school and later went on to complete his secondary education in Malay College, Kuala kangsar.
     When Worlg War Two broke out, Tun Razak immediately joined an anti-Japanese movement in which he was an active member. After the war, he went to London where he took up law. During his time there, he served as the Secterary of the Malay Students' Society. In 1950, he graduated and returned to Malaya. He joined UMNO and eventually became the vice president in 1951. In 1955, he was appointed the Minister of Education. He became the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia in 1957. In 1970, Tun Abdul Razak became the second Prime Minister of Malaysia.
      As Prime Minister, Tun Abdul Razak guided the nation towards further development and progress. However, Tun Abdul Razak developed an illness and passed away in 1976. His death was a great loss to the nation. Al - Fatihah.

Gejala Buli

Buli semakin berleluasa di sekolah kita. Keadaan ini menyebabkan masyarakat semakin gusar.Huraikan punca-punca tercetusnya masalah ini dan langkah-langkah untuk menanganinya.Apakah itu kes buli? Kes buli membawa maksud masalah yang meliputi kegiatan seperti memeras ugut, menghina, mengejek, menumbuk, memaki dan sebagainya yang dilakukan oleh seseorang terhadap pemangsanya. Memang tidak boleh dinafikan bahawa dewasa ini, kes buli yang berlaku di sekolah semakin berleluasa dan menjadi-jadi. Hal ini telah mencapai satu tahap yang amat merimaskan dan membimbangkan pelbagai pihak seperti pihak sekolah, ibu bapa, kerajaan, masyarakat dan lain-lain lagi. Menurut kajian, kes buli ini menjadi semakin meningkat pada setiap tahun dalam kalangan pelajar dan semakin serius masalahnya. “Jika tidak kerana angin masakan pokok bergoyang”. Oleh itu, setiap masalah yang berlaku tentu mempunyai puncanya. Terdapat beberapa punca yang telah dikenal pasti sebagai penyumbang kepada masalah kes buli ini. Antaranya ialah kekurangan penghayatan nilai-nilai agama yang ada pada pelajar yang sanggup melibatkan dirinya dalam kes buli. Mereka sanggup berbuat demikian hanya untuk mendapatkan perhatian orang lain dan menunjukkan kekuatannya kepada orang lain. Mereka semakin ketandusan nilai kemanusiaan. Selain itu, ibu bapa yang kurang memberikan belaian kasih sayang dan prihatin kapada anak juga menjadi antara puncanya kes buli ini berlaku. Ibu bapa yang selalu sibuk mencari duit dan bersikap materialistik telah mengabaikan tanggungjawab mereka terhadap anak mereka. Di samping itu, para pelajar yang masih berumur setahun jagung dan berdarah setampuk pinang ini mudah terpengaruh dengan tindakan rakan sebayanya. Jika kawan-kawannya merupakan pembuli, pelajar tersebut juga akan terikut-ikut perbuatan kawannya supaya dapat diterima oleh ahli-ahli kumpulannya. Pengawasan yang longgar di sekolah juga menjadi puncanya kerana telah memberi peluang kepada pelajar yang ingin menjalankan pembulian mereka terhadap pelajar lain.Bak kata pepatah ‘tiada penyakit yang tiada penyembuhnya’.Terdapat pelbagai langkah drastik yang boleh dijalankan untuk membendung dan membanteras kemelut ini.Antaranya ialah pihak kerajaan seperti Kementerian Pelajaran dan juga pihak sekolah harus menitikberatkan isu kes buli ini dalam pelajaran di sekolah dengan melalui mata pelajaran tertentu seperti Pendidikan Moral, Pendidikan Islam, Pendidikan Sivik dan sebagainya. Dengan itu, pelajar akan menyedari bahawa perbuatan buli ini merupakan satu kesalahan dan pelajar juga didedahkan dengan pelbagai maklumat tentang kesan buruk daripada perbuatan membuli dan cara-cara mengelakkannya daripada terbabit dalam kes buli ini. Selain itu, ceramah atau kempen seperti kempen anti-buli juga boleh diadakan secara berterusan di setiap sekolah dari semasa ke semasa bagi menyedari para pelajar agar menjauhi diri daripada gejala buli. Aktiviti seperti kuiz tentang kes buli juga boleh dilaksanakan sebagai salah satu inisiatif dalam menangani masalah kes buli ini.Namun begitu, pihak sekolah juga perlu sentiasa memastikan bahawa pengawasan di setiap pelosok kawasan sekolah seperti di belakang bangunan sekolah dan kaki lima sekolah yang sunyi diperketat supaya tidak memberi sebarang peluang kepada mereka yang mempunyai keinginan untuk membuli mangsanya. Pihak sekolah juga boleh menggalakkan para pelajar supaya menyertai Kelab Pencegah Jenayah di sekolah dengan aktif. Hal ini kerana para pelajar akan memperoleh lebih banyak pengetahuan tentang cara-cara mencegah masalah kes buli sekiranya pelajar menjadi pemangsa dalam kes itu dan para pelajar juga boleh menyebarkan informasi yang diperoleh itu kepada rakan-rakan yang lain agar semua pelajar tahu akannya. Langkah yang lain ialah para pelajar juga harus pandai memilih kawan kerana para pelajar biasanya juga akan mudah terpengaruh dengan perbuatan kawannya. Contohnya, jika kawannya minat membaca buku, maka pelajar tersebut juga akan dipengaruhi dan membaca bersama-sama. Perkara ini sama juga jika kawan pelajar itu sentiasa melibatkan diri dalam kes buli di sekolah.Di samping itu, para pelajar juga harus berganding bahu dengan pihak sekolah dalam usaha untuk membendung gejala ini. Para pelajar yang ternampak kes buli itu berlaku atau menjadi mangsa pembuli harus memberanikan diri untuk melaporkan kepada pihak sekolah dengan segera agar masalah itu dapat diatasi dengan secepat mungkin demi kesejahteraan sekolah. Manakala, pihak sekolah yang telah menerima laporan aduan daripada pelajar juga harus berusaha mengatasi masalah itu dengan bersungguh-sungguh dan bukan sebaliknya dengan menutup kes itu dengan sesuka hati sahaja. Jika kes ini masih tidak dibicarakan, masalah kes buli akan semakin bertambah dan berleluasa lagi. Pihak sekolah boleh berjumpa dengan pelajar yang disyaki melibatkan diri dalam kes buli dan juga ibu bapanya untuk membincangkan masalah yang dihadapi oleh pelajar tersebut dan mendapatkan jalan keluarnya. Pihak sekolah harus mengenakan hukuman yang setimpal kepada pelajar tersebut agar dia tidak mengulangi perbuatan itu lagi dan juga dijadikan sebagai iktibar kepada pelajar yang lain.Selain itu, ibu bapa juga memainkan peranan yang penting dalam usaha untuk membendung kemelut ini. Ibu bapa haruslah menampilkan teladan yang baik kepada anak-anak mereka supaya anak akan mencontohi kelakuan ibu bapa mereka kerana pada tanggapan anak mereka, perbuatan ibu bapa adalah sentiasa betul dan patut diikuti. Janganlah ibu bapa berlakuan baik di hadapan anak-anak sahaja, sedangkan mereka juga sering mengejek, menghina orang dan sebagainya. Bak kata pepatah ‘bapa borek, anak rintih’, ‘ketam mengajar anaknya berjalan lurus sedangkan dirinya berjalan senget’. Tambahan pula, di samping mengejarkan kebendaan dalam kehidupan dan sibuk bekerja, ibu bapa juga harus sentiasa mengambil perhatian tentang keadaan anak mereka semasa di sekolah dan memberikan belaian kasih sayang yang sepenuhnya kepada mereka supaya mereka tidak berasa sunyi dan diabaikan. Ibu bapa juga harus memupuk anak mereka sejak kecil lagi seperti melentur buluh biarlah dari rebungnya agar sentiasa sudi meluahkan isi hati dan masalah yang dihadapi kepada mereka bagi mengatasinya bersama-sama.Natijahnya, selagi masalah ini masih berleluasa, impian negara kita yang ingin melahirkan satu bangsa yang bermartabat mulia dan berdaya maju akan tinggal sebagai khayalan sahaja. Hasrat negara kita yang ingin mencapai Wawasan 2020 juga akan tinggal sebagai angan-angan Mat Jenin semata-matanya. Hal ini kerana para pelajar merupakan aset negara yang penting dan akan menerajui negara ini pada masa depan. Bak kata peribahasa Melayu ‘pemuda harapan bangsa, pemudi tiang negara’. Oleh itu, semua pihak haruslah sehilir semudik dan sehati sejiwa dalam usaha menangani masalah kes buli ini walaupun kita terpaksa mengharungi liku-liku yang penuh dengan onak duri ini. Semoga berkat daya usaha yang gigih, kita dapat melahirkan generasi muda yang dapat menjulang nama negara dan mengangkat martabat bangsa dipersada dunia.

Cop Contest

A dispute among three kinds of cops,
CIA, FBI, LAPD:
Who can catch bad guys the quickest?
We'll set up a contest and see. A rabbit was set loose in the trees;
"We'll get him first," they all said.
They gathered up all of their gear,
And into the forest they sped. The CIA with informants,
Questions animals and plants on its list,
And after four months investigation,
Concludes rabbits do not exist. The FBI searches and searches,
But can't find a single clue.
After three weeks they burn down the forest,
Killing the poor bunny, too. The LAPD takes an hour;
Solving crimes fast is their habit.
Their perp is a badly bruised cougar,
Shouting, "Whatever you say! I'm a rabbit!"

How To Paint A Wall

While I went off to work one day,
She decided to paint the wall.
And when I came back home that night,
She was curled into a ball. Her eyes were closed, she was breathing hard,
Her hair was very wet.
From her head to the tips of her pretty toes,
She was covered all in sweat. She was wrapped in a jacket made of down,
With a fur coat on top of that.
The wall was glowing with new, fresh paint;
On the floor, the paint can sat. "Sweetheart!" I cried, with a worried look,
"Are you all right, my dear?"
She lazily opened her lovely eyes,
And smiled from ear to ear. "I knew I could do it," she said with a grin;
"I followed the paint can notes.
It clearly said 'For best results,
Be sure to put on two coats.'"

What Do They Know

I face the world with a smile, no one knows what is hid inside.
They see only happiness, they cant see the tears I've cried.
When I am alone I hurt, because here I do it well.
In front of all the watchful eyes my heaven turns to hell.
The judge and jury awaits me, everyone has a say.
In a life that hangs suspended for yet another day.
Who are they to judge if what I have done is right or wrong?
In the end I gave him up, but inside still sing his song.
I don't know how to find the strength I thought I had.
If only I could play tough it wouldn't be so bad.
They say that life goes on and someday I'll smile again.
But, how do they know my pain without being where I've been?
I've traveled so far from home, and can't find my way back.
Somewhere along the way I must have jumped the track.
I saw him just today and his smile is still the same.
He looked at me so sweetly, but never spoke my name.
I wonder if he remembers me, It hasn't been that long.
He may have forgotten me, but I still sing his song.

Lighting Your Way

If I was one thing, I'd be a candle
Lighting the way so you can handle
Your life easier without woes
Not having to fight with your foes.
I'd help keep you from stumbling over
Things blocking your path to an open door.
If I light your path, life is easier,
Even strong winds, my light will not deter.
No matter what, I'm here for you
To cheer you up when you are blue.
Do not fret when times get tough,
If things look down or kind of rough.
Just remember, I'm always here,
In your heart, close and near.
I will help you out in every way,
Happiness and love in your heart will stay.
Don't blow me out, that's one request
Unless it's me you do detest.
I do not try to hurt anyone
That isn't good or any fun.
But one day you may leave me behind
You may no longer need my light to shine.
If that day comes, go on your way
And I will hope to see you again one day.
If one day, I don't appear,
Do not worry, do not fear
I may be gone, but in your heart

Difference

There is a part of me
That feels I am different from everyone else.
Something that I can't quite see,
Something that I can't quite feel,
Something so unreal.
But this 'thing' is always there,
This 'thing' with others, I will never share.
So I push it to the back of my mind,
All the thoughts of boys and clothes
And make-up, it is hiding behind.
Sometimes, when I have almost forgotten,
It comes back with such ferocity,
Angry and unforgiving.
I feel so lost and sad,
Whatever caused this feeling
Must have been so horrible and bad.
A lost memory or something else,
I'll never know,
Whatever it is,
I know for sure,
I can never let this feeling show.

The Final Act

Screeching tires, shattering glass,
twisting metal, fiberglass.
The scene is set it all goes black,
The curtain raised the final act.
Sirens raging in the night,
sounds of horror, gasps of fright.
Intense pain, the smell of blood
tearing eyes begin to flood.
They pull out our bodies one by one,
What is going on, we were only having fun!
One of my friends is missing, what did I do?
Her scattered belongings everywhere,
in the road there lies her shoe.
A man is leaning over me and looking in my eyes,
"What were you thinking, son"?
"Did you really think that you could drive?"
He pulled up the sheet still looking in my eyes,
"If you'd only called your Mom or Dad, you'd still be alive!"
I started to scream, I started to yell;
But no one could hear me, no one could tell.
They put me in an ambulance; they took me away.
The doctor at the hospital exclaimed, "DOA!"
My father's in shock, my mother in tears,
she collapses in grief, overcome by the fear.
They take me to this house and place me in this box.
I keep asking what is happening,
But I cant make it stop.
Everyone is crying, my family is so sad.
I wish someone would answer me,
I'm starting to get mad.
My mother leans over me and kisses me good-bye,
My father pulling her away, she is screaming, "WHY"?
They lower my body into a dirt grave,
It feels so very cold, I yell to be saved.
Then I see an angel; I begin to cry.
Can you tell me what is happening?
she replies "YOU DIED."
I can't be dead; I'm still so young!
I want to do so many things - like sing, and dance, and run.
What about college or graduation day?
what about a wedding? Please - I want to stay.
The angel looked upon me, and with a saddened voice,
"It didn't have to end like this; you knew you had a choice."
"I'm sorry it's too late now; time I can't turn back."
"Your life is finished; that, my son, is a fact!"
Why did this happen? I didn't want to die!
The angel, she embraced me and with her words she sighed,
"Son, this is the consequence you paid to drink and drive.
I wish you made a better choice, If you did you would be alive.
It doesn't matter if you beg me, or plead on bended knee, There is
nothing I can do, you have to come with me."
Looking down at my family, I said my last good-bye.
"I'm sorry I disappointed you, Dad.
Mommy, please don't cry,
I didn't mean to hurt you, or cause you any pain.
I'm sorry all you're left with is a grave that bears my name.
I'm sorry all your dreams for me have all been ripped away;
the plans for my future all gathered in a grave.
It was such a stupid thing I did, I wish I could take it back;
But the curtain is being lowered.
SO ENDS THE FINAL ACT...
